Mind your thoughts, mind your intention.

mind Aug 08, 2021
As I work with energy in the services I provide, I always am sure to place intention for whatever session, grid or modality work I might be doing and am careful to do so with positive language.

Well Miss Penelope Roseritta has yet taught Darren and myself a very valuable lesson about intention, and how to better mind my intention, as it goes far beyond what we thought it did.

First I need to backtrack.  Last fall we got our puppy miss Penelope Roseritta, and part of the purpose was for her to be my walking partner.  Great plan to commit to walking as part of my self-care regime.

Then that dreadful day March 9th occurred when I fell hard and fast on black ice, with Penelope in tow, and detached the quadricep tendon off my knee bone.  Life changed instantly for all of us, as I required emergency surgery and a long healing process afterwards with minimal mobility.  So much for my walking partner, for now anyway.

Well Penelope witnessed me falling and heard my cries,

Time to cleanse your energetic self, but how?

body mind emotion Jun 23, 2021
Have you ever entered a room and felt the energy thick?

For example say there was a heated discussion that you walked in on, or a home that is for sale due to a bad marriage break up.  It just feels heavy and sticky.

The scary part is that energy can stick to us without us even knowing.  Next you know we are feeling a down, or have little patience, unmotivated, or become angry for no reason etc.

Chances are we do not think about where we have been that day, or why we feel this way, because energy is invisible so it never dawns on us that we picked up that negative sticky energy.   But it is evident that something is going on based on how you now feel.

                        Image
The question then becomes, what can we do about it?

Cleanse Yourself!

That is the answer, but how do we go about it?

One of the most common ways is to have a bath with some epsom salt.  Epsom salt will help pull out some of the toxins created by those sticky emotions, and we can ...

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

mind and body May 24, 2021
We have all heard the saying...

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

This may be easier said than done, as it involves truly letting go and moving foward which may not always be that easy.

However fresh lemonade does sound refreshing, so maybe it is worth doing what it takes to make lemonade.

If you recall in previous newletters I shared how we got our precious puppy Penelope Roseritta, and a big part of her life was to be my walking partner.  What a great plan for my self-care, involving our puppy, love, fresh air, sunshine and exercise

Things were going great then on a warm melting sunny day in Calgary, everything changed.

We were out for a walk, when we approached what I thought was water on the sidewalk.  As soon as my foot hit that patch, in the blink of an eye I was on the ground and my lower leg was pointing the wrong direction... oh no what have I done!!!

Long story short I had to have emergency surgery to repair the damage, I had torn t...

Laughter is the best medicine!

mind and emotion Feb 16, 2021

I started off with the intention to write about "the bathroom scale" and it reminded me of a funny story, that I'm about to share.  However before I do the purpose of this message is simple.

"Laughter truly is the best medicine."

When was the last time you had a good belly laugh?

Let's face it, the past year has been unprecedented in our lifetime, and has been quite a challenge for many.  If we are fortunate enough to have not experienced loss (a person, a job, a relationship), we still are feeling the effects of self-isolation and limited gatherings.  It's as if our freedoms have been taken away.... so I ask again, when was the last time you have a good belly laugh?
As cited in this article from the Mayo Clinic (click here to read the entire article) laughter both short term and long term effects.  Some of the short term affects include:

As oxygen intake increases it stimulates the organs (heart, lungs and muscles) and increases endorphin release from the brain....

The Value of Reflection

mind Jan 08, 2021
Instead of talking about what's new lets first reflect on this crazy year of the world wide pandemic.  Who knew at this time last year that our lives were about to be turned upside down by something we have no control over?

Looking back, how did you respond to COVID 19?
Did fear set in right away, or were you in disbelief that it would make it this far?  Whatever the answers to those questions are for you, use it to your advantage.  How?  By turning that life experience into wisdom, via your mindset.

What did you learn about yourself in the process?
What would you do differently if this were to happen again?
Did you gain clarity about what is really important?  I know I did, and it allowed me to convert my business to more of what I wanted, vs what was in front of me.  Sound familiar at all?  Where did you gain clarity?

This is the value of self-reflection.

Looking back as we move forward.

Not looking back and staying there, but looking back at what you learned ...

New Beginnings Part 3

Welcome back!

How is that Vision board, and thinking about your legacy going?  Have you found what motivates you?  Have you tried applying one thing into you life?  What did you find out about it and fitting into your life?  Good or bad, now you know.  That is the point of trying it out, better to know now.

While the sound of a “mission statement” or a “vision board” might sound romantic, it’s what comes after that counts.

ACTION

Of course we don’t want you to just start plugging things into your day-timer but rather try one thing out at a time, and see how it worksovercome challenges, build confidence, make it your new norm, and then move onto the next item on your board.

Now that may not sound romantic, but it is realistic.  Realistic is what brings lasting results.

Your next action step is to think about one of those items you identified as a motivator.  We are starting there for a reason, to keep you motivated, as change is hard enough, so lets start with something t

Welcome back!

Did you have fun making your Vision board, or did you run into any challenges?  If yes, drop us a line at [email protected] to share and see if we can offer you any suggestions.

If you are just joining the blog series now, to truly engage in the process please go back and review the previous blog, New Beginnings (1) as this will help you determine…

Hand writing the text: Whats Your Legacy?

For those of you ready to move forward please pull out your Vision board and ponder it.  Ask yourself:

What really motivates me?  I mean what sends a tingle through my body, or gets my blood moving, or just plain gets me excited?

If nothing jumps out at you then practice this:

Focus on one photo.

Think about what your life will look like if you have that thing.

(Close your eyes an use visualization like athletes do.)

Who is there?  What’s around you?  What does it FEEL like to be standing right there in “it”?

Now go back and go through this process again with the pictures on your Vision board until  you

Happy New Year!

Did you enjoy the festivities of the holiday season?  Recovered now, and is life kind of getting back to “normal”?

For many of us, New Year's resolutions were set.  How is that working for you so far?

high-angle shot of a pencil and a notebook with some new years resolutions written in it, such as exercise, get fit, eat healthy, save money, smile, enjoy life or be happy, on a rustic wooden surface

Personally I gave up on making those years ago and took a different approach, as I found it did not take me long to lose my motivation and go back to old habits; year after year after year after year…

In my corporate career I was fortunate enough to be certified to teach Dr. Stephen Covey “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”.  Not sure if many of you are old enough to remember the buzz about that, but I have to admit his course truly changed my life for the better, and I’d like to share some of that wisdom with you in a few bits and bites over the next few blogs, including a twist to that knowledge that I’ve found useful, as have others.

In fact, as the title suggests, “INSIDE THE CRYSTAL & BEYOND…New Beginnings (1)“, we (Darren and myself Rebecca) decided we w...

How do you react to a life event and your self-care regium?

mind and body Nov 20, 2020
In the last blog we talked about when a "life event" happens and throws you off your self-care regium.  It happens to all of us, so how do you deal with it?  For us it was a matter of "short term pain" for "long term gain"

In getting a puppy our normal routine was knocked out of whack, however 6 weeks in we now are training our walking partner to get us back on track.  Knowing this will become a part of our daily routine, what a great way to commit to walking as part of our self-care.

Why it is so difficult to get back on track once we have slipped off our self-care regium?

I really started searching for the answer to this question, and what I discovered was this interesting observation.

When we try something new we have a different energy, we are excited to take on something new.  It breaks us out of our old patterns and gives us something interesting to do, which activates different parts of the brain.

We are excited.

We start to see results, such a

Listen to your body, and nap when you need a nap!

body Nov 20, 2020
Last blog we touched on the topic of falling off track.  I had mentioned that to get back on track we need to do the following:

Just think about why you did, so you can change or remove that obstacle and get back on track.

DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP, that is a waste of energy, just learn from it and move on.  Beating yourself up lowers your vibration and doing that brings down your energy, your spark, your light.

But it's not always that easy!

Then I started thinking about it, and in talking with different people I noticed a real trend about how difficult it is to get back on track one we have had some "life events" that take you off track.

Meet our latest "life event"...

Miss Penelope Roserrita, our precious black lab baby girl.

We have never had children, the 2 legged human kind, so we can't speak from experience about how that can turn your life upside down,   but we sure can speak to raising and training a puppy, and the outside tinkle trips at 1am...
