Adapting to Change

mind Nov 10, 2023
Have you noticed the pace of change, especially when it comes to technology, AI, and even my bank just changed the orientation of the access card at the bank machine!  It just never stops, and as they say
"The only thing that is consistent is change itself."

Why is adapting to change a part of self-care?  If we resist change we get set in our ways, get stubborn, maybe even angry at the changes and we spend time fussing over them wasting valuable time and energy that can be better used.  That's why it's better to be flexible and to learn to adapt.

The question is, do you embrace change or resist it?  Here is a little demonstration for you about change.

So you see, that is just a simple task of changing the position of your thumbs, and yet when asked to put your hands together again fast, you go back to the old way.  This is so true about most change in our...

Mind Care - When is it time to reach out for support?

mind Feb 12, 2023

As I have been creating content for the self-care membership, it reminded me of the importance of "mind care" for our mental health.  You see in the membership I focus on all parts of us, meaning, the Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual. If we can maintain those four areas, we have a better chance at achieving balance in our life as we care for ourselves beyond the physical.

But first what do I mean by "mind care" and "mental health"?

When I was a kid (with transparency I'm mid-50's now) the term "mental health" was not used in my circle anyway, it was "mental illness" which through my limited paradigm back then, meant something was seriously wrong.  I really did not know anyone who experienced it, so had no idea of what it meant.  In fact the term scared me, as I figured it meant someone would be locked up or put onto some serious medication.  Aaaahhh ignorance...

Let's zoom ahead to present day where the term "mental health" is used frequently, and...

Mind your thoughts, mind your intention.

mind Aug 08, 2021
As I work with energy in the services I provide, I always am sure to place intention for whatever session, grid or modality work I might be doing and am careful to do so with positive language.

Well Miss Penelope Roseritta has yet taught Darren and myself a very valuable lesson about intention, and how to better mind my intention, as it goes far beyond what we thought it did.

First I need to backtrack.  Last fall we got our puppy miss Penelope Roseritta, and part of the purpose was for her to be my walking partner.  Great plan to commit to walking as part of my self-care regime.

Then that dreadful day March 9th occurred when I fell hard and fast on black ice, with Penelope in tow, and detached the quadricep tendon off my knee bone.  Life changed instantly for all of us, as I required emergency surgery and a long healing process afterwards with minimal mobility.  So much for my walking partner, for now...

The Value of Reflection

mind Jan 08, 2021
Instead of talking about what's new lets first reflect on this crazy year of the world wide pandemic.  Who knew at this time last year that our lives were about to be turned upside down by something we have no control over?

Looking back, how did you respond to COVID 19?
Did fear set in right away, or were you in disbelief that it would make it this far?  Whatever the answers to those questions are for you, use it to your advantage.  How?  By turning that life experience into wisdom, via your mindset.

What did you learn about yourself in the process?
What would you do differently if this were to happen again?
Did you gain clarity about what is really important?  I know I did, and it allowed me to convert my business to more of what I wanted, vs what was in front of me.  Sound familiar at all?  Where did you gain clarity?

This is the value of self-reflection.

Looking back as we move forward.

Not looking...

New Beginnings Part 3

mind Jan 08, 2021

Welcome back!

How is that Vision board, and thinking about your legacy going?  Have you found what motivates you?  Have you tried applying one thing into you life?  What did you find out about it and fitting into your life?  Good or bad, now you know.  That is the point of trying it out, better to know now.

While the sound of a “mission statement” or a “vision board” might sound romantic, it’s what comes after that counts.

ACTION

Of course we don’t want you to just start plugging things into your day-timer but rather try one thing out at a time, and see how it worksovercome challenges, build confidence, make it your new norm, and then move onto the next item on your board.

Now that may not sound romantic, but it is realistic.  Realistic is what brings lasting results.

Welcome back!

Did you have fun making your Vision board, or did you run into any challenges?  If yes, drop us a line at [email protected] to share and see if we can offer you any suggestions.

If you are just joining the blog series now, to truly engage in the process please go back and review the previous blog, New Beginnings (1) as this will help you determine…

Hand writing the text: Whats Your Legacy?

For those of you ready to move forward please pull out your Vision board and ponder it.  Ask yourself:

What really motivates me?  I mean what sends a tingle through my body, or gets my blood moving, or just plain gets me excited?

If nothing jumps out at you then practice this:

Focus on one photo.

Think about what your life will look like if you have that thing.

(Close your eyes an use visualization like athletes do.)

Who is there?  What’s around you?  What does it FEEL like to be standing right there in...

Happy New Year!

Did you enjoy the festivities of the holiday season?  Recovered now, and is life kind of getting back to “normal”?

For many of us, New Year's resolutions were set.  How is that working for you so far?

high-angle shot of a pencil and a notebook with some new years resolutions written in it, such as exercise, get fit, eat healthy, save money, smile, enjoy life or be happy, on a rustic wooden surface

Personally I gave up on making those years ago and took a different approach, as I found it did not take me long to lose my motivation and go back to old habits; year after year after year after year…

In my corporate career I was fortunate enough to be certified to teach Dr. Stephen Covey “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”.  Not sure if many of you are old enough to remember the buzz about that, but I have to admit his course truly changed my life for the better, and I’d like to share some of that wisdom with you in a few bits and bites over the next few blogs, including a twist to that knowledge that I’ve found useful, as have others.

Why is accountability so important?

mind Nov 20, 2020
Last time we will talked about a key component of our mindset, and in reference to the car analogy, we need more than just fuel, we also need a maintenance program to keep it running well

That key component is commitment.

We talked about all our commitments, and how we are usually at the end of the list, therefore not self-caring ourselves

How do we go about changing that, by setting reasonable, practicable and doable goals for ourselves, staring with baby steps.

Also remember what happens if we take no action, nothing changes, well wait...

Lets not just wait for something to magically happen.

Time to take responsibility for your life and live a better life with the aid of self-care.
Now its time for what I like to call an Accountability check in.

Most successful people have someone that can hold them accountable, as nothing like having to report to another to help keep you on...

Are you too busy driving to stop and get gas?

Self-care purpose

First of all, what is self-care, and what is it's purpose?

In a short phrase self-care is feeding your soul by doing something you love.  I call this self-care.

If you look at it that way, it has a whole new meaning versus just something else to add to your "to do" list.

This is what we are going to start exploring with you each month, just one piece at a time so you can not only take it in, but start to practice it.  I mean, what's the point of information if we don't at least give it a try?
As an inspirational man once said...

"Are you too busy driving to stop and get gas?"
Dr. Stephen R. Covey

When you think about that you may say of course not!  I'd run out of gas and not be able to go any where.

but yet...

What do you do to your body on a regular basis?

The first topic I want to discover with you is mindset.  Hiding under your mindset are your...

The C Word

mind Sep 12, 2020
First of all, what is self-care, and what is it's purpose?

In a short phrase self-care is feeding your soul by doing something you love and causes no harm I call this self-care.

If you look at it that way, it has a whole new meaning versus just something else to add to your "to do" list.
This month we will talk about a key component of our mindset, and in reference to the car analogy, we need more than just fuel, we also need a maintenance program to keep it running well.  That key component is what we will talk about next.

The C word!

The C word, could be car, carbon or fuel to run the car... ok spoiler alert, its

This is what we are going to start exploring with you each month, just one piece at a time so you can not only take it in, but start to practice it.  I mean, what's the point of information if we don't at least give it a try?
