The Root Chakra is where it starts...

mind and body Apr 18, 2022

Now you have a basic understanding of what Charka's do from the previous blogs about Chakras.  Caring for our Chakras is part of self-care, as it relates to the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies that surround and are a part of us, known as our aura.

The Root Chakras mission is  "I want.  I need."

Root Chakra Purpose is about:

  •  Survival
  •  Safety
  •  Security
  •  Self-Preservation
  •  Life Force
  •  Being grounded and secure on this planet

The qualities listed above are all about incorporating safety, security and grounding into our lives.  Really you can relate it back to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, as he talks about these characteristics at the base of his scale.  If we do not feel safe, secure and grounded, it can be difficult to navigate in day to day life.

Now you can see why the Root is such an important Chakra, as they are all, but for different reasons.

The Root Chakra is known as Muladhara and is represented by the symbol below.

What kind of clues do we have whether our Root Chakra is out of balance?

Physical problems could include:

  • Conditions that affect the:
    • Feet
    • Knees
    • Hips including arthritis
  • Kidney Stones
  • Osteoporosis
  • Bone problems
  • Autoimmune deficiency conditions

If we have an emotional upset, especially around a job or relationship we can easily become ungrounded as we are "in our head" when really we are "in our emotions.   You know because you can't think clearly, make decisions, and just feel like you're spinning your wheels.

What can you do to resolve or lessen the effects of the above?  Start by opening your Root Chakra.

Next thing needed, an open mind and consider the following.   Remember in the Spirit World, it all comes back to your intention, so intend for these methods to work for you!
  • Take a walk, breathing deeply and preferably outside.
  • Get hugged - with permission of course.  If alone, wrap your arms around yourself, close your eyes and give yourself a nice big hug.  You deserve it.
  • Cook, try some new recipes and give your taste buds a treat.   Nothing feels more secure than a warm full belly.  With healthy food preferably of course, and rooted veggies are great.
  • Go barefoot in the grass if possible.
  • Invest in a good bed and bedding.  Sleep is essential to health and good health is essential to a good life.
  • Start your day dancing.  Have a playlist of your favorite tunes and dance while you get ready for the day.

When your Root Chakra is in balance it will leave you feeling grounded, safe and secure on this planet.  This is a great place to start your day, and bigger picture, live your life.   Definitely worth trying some of the methods above to get that Chakra working, wouldn't you agree?
